Tribute to Alan McCarthy, 1955 - 2025

Alan was an excellent scientist and a wonderful person! He has helped so many people both professionally and personally. Recently, a former student got in touch and wanted to give back to current students due to the support and experience that Alan gave to her. I will be forever grateful for his support, encouragement and humour not least when he handed over the Microbiology programme director reigns.
