I first met Professor Alan McCarthy back in 2011 when I was applying for University, and the following year I started as an undergraduate student who had the great honour and pleasure of being taught by him. To this day I still regularly talk about Professor McCarthy to my colleagues and peers - as without his kindness, support and guidance, I would never have submitted my application to study on the programme in the first place, and would not have the job I do now, as a lecturer myself. I owe so much to Professor McCarthy and I have never forgotten his kindness, incredible humour, and supportive and caring nature. Sending lots of love and light to his family and friends. I will always remember you, will continue to tell others about the fundamental impact you have had on my studies and career, and hope to embody your incredible teaching skills for my own students. Thank you for everything.
